Welcome to Aaramgah – Our Alpine Farmstay! We are a husband and wife duo running the show with heavenly blessings of our granny, due permission of our adoring parents, support of our little sister and love of our charming young gentleman.
Fondly known as ‘Mango’ to friends and family, I, Piyush Mehta, am 33-year-old modest Pahari (khadu, if you may) born in Kotgarh, the beautiful apple valley of Himachal Pradesh. My father is a humble gentleman and a successful orchardist. My mother, well she is as superwoman (don’t take my word, come meet her in person).
After initial gist at a day school, in 1996 I was sent off as a boarder to Bishop Cotton School (BCS) on the knollswood spur in Shimla. Bishop Cotton, modelled on the lines of public schools in Great Britain, was designed to groom gentlemen who would make a mark wherever they go after stepping outside the gates of the school.
In school, I was a shy student with a sharp brain. I liked spending time on the cricket pitch, and more time in making successful strategies to bunk (miss) most of the school activities.
In 1998 I enrolled into NCC, and along with NCC camps in various regions of Punjab, we managed time for Hockey coaching with local Punjab boys and girls (yes we played with some excellent women hockey players too). Recurrent coaching and exposure to the game over the next few years instilled in me the charm for the game and my goal keeping skills were honed to an extent that I bagged best keeper awards at various prestigious tournaments.
The love for cricket was beyond contentment for me, though hockey was what I lived, cricket was what I loved. Until I was to graduate out of school in 2003, I had sharpened my skills and mental strength to shape up into a top-notch cricketer and even finer Hockey goalkeeper.
Sports didn’t follow me beyond the school gates for long, but it was only after a friendly cricket game with BCS boys, during my college days, that I was presented with an opportunity to work in the USA.
Having spent a few years working satisfactorily with MNC’s and Start-ups in my motherland, the turn of time would have it, and there I was in Manhattan in 2013. After a wonderful exposure of a developed country, endless seasons for highs and lows, and experiences to long savour of all the horizons touched, it was finally home calling for me in 2016.
While adjusting back, and figuring how to put my exposure and experience to worth, I met a charming young lady, Dr Himani Kalthaik. And just like in a sweetly middled cover drive, our ideologies matched on the rise, and we soon got married. God was very gracious to us and our family was complete in another year, when Himani gave birth to the apple of my eye, Yatharv.
All happiness and luck came ridding on his back for Himani and me, and within no time after his birth, we were able to begin construction of Aaramgah.
We tastefully and desirously built our new home, which we also present to our guests for a warm stay. This house is not our traditional family home, but a newly constructed home in the middle of our farm, just a few paces from our family home. Aaramgah is all about recreation, peace of mind and wellbeing – Come spend time with us and unwind in luxury and comfort, with fairy tales of our land and beyond.
